At the Praça da República in Tavira we will find the City Hall and the Islamic Museological Nucleus with a diverse archaeological collection from the Islamic period, Vaso de Tavira, the ex-libris of the museum, the Misericórdia Church, built between 1541 and 1551, is considered the most remarkable Renaissance expression of the Algarve.
In the Tavira Castle a military architecture that went through several phases over time with an important role in the defense of this territory, the perfect place for a panoramic view of the city.

This strategic importance of Lagos gave rise to a considerable economic development, which was translated in the fixation of many people in the city, originating its urban growth.

Very close by we have the Fortress of “Cabo de Sao Vicente”, built in the 16th century to protect the coast from the Moorish attacks, pirates and, according to the legend, the place where the fortress was built will have received the remains of San Vicente before they were moved to Lisbon.
