The Dallas Arts District is a unique, 68-acre, 19-block neighborhood in the heart of the city. A rare jewel that is the centerpiece of the region’s cultural life, the District is home to some of the finest architecture in the world. Enhancing the downtown Dallas skyline are buildings by Pritzker Prize winners I.M. Pei, Renzo Piano, Norman Foster, Rem Koolhaas and AIA Gold Medal recipient Edward Larrabee Barnes.

Stop At: Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201-2497

Designed by architect I. M. Pei and acoustician Russell Johnson. The building's acoustics were the first in the world to be designed by computer applications; it is considered a 100% acoustically-perfect building. The exterior includes 22,000 pieces of Indiana limestone, 33,000 feet of Italian travertine and 211 glass panels, no two alike. Interior features include the Lay Family 4,535 pipe-organ; reverberation chamber doors and an adjustable canopy weighing 46,000 pounds.

See the design features of this performance hall that reflects Norman Foster's return to contemporary Modernism; solar panel louvers eliminating most direct sunlight on the the facade and creating a microclimate around the building reducing the energy requirements of the Winspear Opera House. Find out where and why the heating and air-conditioning units are located; and, the glass facade that wraps around the building creating a transparency between the Opera House and the Dallas city skyline.

Stop At: Wyly Theater At AT&T Performing Arts Center, 2100 Ross Ave, Dallas, TX 75201-2739

Winner of the 2017 Tony for the "Best Regional Theater"! Designed by Joshua Prince-Ramus and Pritzker Prize winning architect Rem Koolhaas. It features a groundbreaking design with an unprecedented "stacked" vertically organized facility that completely rethinks the traditional form of theater.

Pass By: Nasher Sculpture Center, 2001 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201-2336

Now housed in what was considered at one time as the most valuable collection of sculpture in private hands. The Renzo Piano-designed museum is considered by many critics as the jewel of the Dallas Arts District. Piano working in collaboration with landscape architect Peter Walker in developing the 2-acre garden featuring the works of Henry Moore.

Stop At: Crow Collection of Asian Art, 2010 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201-2335

This museum celebrates the arts and cultures of Asia-from ancient eras to contemporary times-- with exhibitions that showcase the arts of multiple countries, including more than 1,000 works from Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korean, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.

The Dallas Museum of Art is among the 10 largest art museums in the country and is distinguished by the commitment to research, innovation and public engagement. At the heart of the Museum and its programs is the global collection, which encompasses more than 24,000 works and spans 5,000 years of history, representing a full range of world cultures.

Stop At: Klyde Warren Park, 1909 Woodall Rodgers Fwy, Dallas, TX 75201-2232

Klyde Warren Park creates a green space that connects the vibrant Uptown neighborhood with the Dallas Arts District and downtown. Considered and engineering marvel, the 5.2-acre deck park is built over a recessed eight-lane freeway. Numerous food trucks offer many options for lunch.

To continue their tour through Uptown Dallas and West Village Shopping venue, the McKinney Avenue Trolley stops at the eastern edge of the park. There is no fee. The tour guide does not accompany along on this option.
