    Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Pass By: Drum Tower (Gulou), The Southern of Xi'an West Main Street Beiyuanmen,, Xi'an 710003 China

The Drum Tower is located northwest of the Bell Tower of Xi'an, across the Bell and Drum Tower Square. Both of them are called the 'sister buildings' or 'morning bell and dark drum'. In ancient China, especially from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), the drums were used to signal the running of time and on occasion were used as an alarm in emergency situations.

It was initially built in 1380 during the reign of Emperor Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and was renovated twice in 1699 and 1740 in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is a two-storied post and panel structure, 34 meters (about 112 feet) high and 52.6 meters (about 172 feet) long from east to west as well as 38 meters (about 124 feet) wide from north to south. The architecture style of the Drum Tower is a combination of the styles of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and the Qing Dynasty. However, it also has some innovative features. For example, it should be mentioned that there is no iron nail used anywhere in the Tower.

Pass By: Xi'an Bell Tower, Lianhu District Junction of East main street, west main street, south main street and north main street,, Xi'an 710000 China

The Bell Tower, is a stately traditional building, that marks the geographical center of the ancient capital. From this important landmark extend East, South, West and North Streets, connecting the tower to the East, South, West and North Gates of the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty.

The wooden tower, which is the largest and best-preserved of its kind in China, is 36 meters (118 feet) high. It stands on a brick base 35.5 meters (116.4 feet) long and 8.6 meters (28.2 feet) high on each side. During the Ming Dynasty, Xi'an was an important military town in Northwest China, a fact that is reflected in the size and historic significance.

The tower was built in 1384 by Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang as a way to dominate the surrounding countryside and provide early warning of attack by rival rulers.

Stop At: Muslim Quarter, West of Bell Drum Towers Square , Beilin District, Xi'an 710000 China

Just as its name implies, the Muslim Quarter, also known as Huimin Jie in Pingyin, is the hub of the Muslim community in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. Located to the north of the West Street in the city center, the quarter covers several blocks inhabitated by over 20,000 Muslims. There are about ten mosques in the area of the Muslim Street, among which the Great Mosque in the Huajue Lane is the most famous and popular.

Muslim food and souvenir market is another feature of the area. The Beiyuanmen Muslim Market located just to the north of the Drum Tower is a great choice after the sightseeing in the city center. About 500 meters (about 547 yards) in length from south to north, the street can be reached through the archway under the Drum Tower. This street is paved with dark colored stone with green trees providing heavy shade during summer; the buildings on both sides of the street are modeled on the styles of both the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasties (1644-1911). Some of the constructions are restaurants; while others are stores. But here there is one thing in common: the owners are all Muslims.

The food tour was amazing! Rosemary was an amazing guide she was so much fun, and her enthusiasm for her city and its food was evident. Weve taken a few food tours throughout China, but this was easily one of the best. The Chinese hamburgers were delicious, as were the dumplings, noodles, and everything else. And the beer at the Near Wall Brewery was really good especially if youre not into the super-hoppy IPAs. Anyone thinking about taking this tour, just do it! Xian has some of the best food Ive had in China, but only if you know where to go, and thats exactly what this is for. Highly recommend!

We took multiple tours during out stay in China. By far, this tour, and particularly, our guide Michael was by far the best of the bunch. What an amazing night out. Michael took us to all the best food places on the Muslim quarter during this night 3-hour food and walking tour. We started at our hotel and headed to a hidden Mosque that was a photographer's dream site. From there we walked through the local market and headed to the Muslim quarter for samples of five delectable dishes, and enough food to make up a meal. Michael made sure we ate from safe, clean locations and steered us from the dangerous food options. We then headed to the famous Bell and Drum Tower, which is a site to see at night. We then wrapped up the evening at a lively brewery where we enjoy a complimentary beer and smoked some Shisha Hookah with Michael.

I have to tell you, Michael went well above and beyond what we ordered. He was very accommodating, even taking a cab ride back to our hotel to make sure we arrived safely. He really made the difference on the tour. Thank you Michael for our best evening out during our entire trip!
