Electric Bike Ride and Appleton Tasting at Good Hope Estate

Good hope is a 2000-acre plantation paradise on the edge of Jamaica’s famous Cockpit Country. The ultimate chill-out spot with a shot of adrenaline! Immaculate grounds flank the Martha Brae river, amongst beautiful 18th C stone buildings. Walks, river tubing, ziplines and fascinating architecture are brought to life by excellent guides. Delicious Jamaican country-style food and Caribbean bars are found next to a vast zero-entry swimming pool, boasting 6 wading pools up to a 50ft waterfall with plunge pool. We have nurtured nature so you can experience it at its best.

Itinerary

First, hop on your e-bike at historic Good Hope, a former 18th-century sugar estate village nestled in a verdant valley—an unexpected jewel in a soul-lifting tropical setting. With its signature bumpy terrain visible by air but rarely visited by land, this natural wonder was once home to the Tainos. Ride along 300-year-old paved roads laid atop original tracks made by these original inhabitants some 2500 years ago. See today’s thriving farming communities at work. Learn about sugar cane, one of Jamaica’s most important crops, as well as orchards of both familiar- and odd-looking fruit, including Jamaica’s Ugli Fruit. Your knowledgeable guide will point out favorite “food” trees, like Ackee, mango, tamarind, and guava. Take in coconut trees, teak plantations, the history-rich Logwood tree, and the great Guango tree, queen of the tropical forest. Pass by parcels of Good Hope land whose roots go back to the days of swashbuckling pirates. Visit Fontabelle, a tiny foothill community, while learning about the mineral-rich soil under your feet and its ties with the international companies that came to mine it and, subsequently, become part of this magical island’s history.
