Perched on a steep hill overlooking the Fırtına Valley, Zilkale is a prime example of medieval military architecture. Its stone walls and towers are not only impressive but also a testament to the skill of the builders who constructed it. The castle's name, "Zilkale," is derived from the Turkish words "zil" (bell) and "kale" (castle) due to the legend that tells of a bell that once hung in the fortress.
