In the first half of the tour, we shall walk along this most famous historical street in Bucharest and take in the many landmarks here. We shall stop at the statue of the first Romanian king, the former Royal Palace as well as in the Revolution Square, near the former headquarters of the Communist Party. Here is the best place to hear intriguing stories about monarchy and war, as well as the rise and fall of the infamous dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu.

Stop At: Palace of Parliament, Strada Izvor 2-4, Bucharest 050711 Romania

Known as the largest administrative building in Europe - the Palace of the Parliament, is a monumental construction made during Romania's communist past under the command of the megalomaniac dictator Ceausescu. You will not only be shocked by the sheer size of this building, but also by the story of how it was made, which saw over 20,000 houses destroyed in the central part of Bucharest. However, it is very inspiring to discover that behind the facades of Ceausescu's new constructions, there are still a few hidden old houses as well as churches which survived the demolition frenzy. We will only see this building from outside.

You'll enjoy a walk in the fascinating Old Town with its quaint streets paved with cobblestones, its medieval Oriental inns, its small 19th century merchant houses and its imposing palaces. During the walk, you'll see the essential sights from this famous quarter in Bucharest: the History Museum, the CEC Palace, Manuc's Inn, the Macca Villacrosse Passage, Stavropoleos Monastery. This last part of the tour will take you back into the early history of Bucharest and find out how the city was established, how it developed during the Middles Ages, the stories of the wonderful old houses and of the people who lived here before.
To conclude this experience, we shall stop at the oldest and most famous cakery in the city for a taste of some Romanian sweets.
