The Untold Stories of Communist Bucharest
A communist tour of Bucharest is a must do because the capital has been the main scene for most of the main events related to communism. Here is where our last king was forced to abdicate, where the feared Secret Police was created, where Ceausescu decided to build his new city by demolishing the old one, but also where he had his first and his last speech. During a 3 hours walking tour you will find out all the details related to communism as a doctrine and how it shaped the life of people by slowly stripping them of pride, individuality, religion and cultural identity. We will also visit important communist landmarks and you can observe, with the help of old pictures, how communism managed to change completely the aspect and architecture of Bucharest. You can see, touch and even take pictures with communist relics, you get the chance to taste an original communist sweet and you will receive an authentic traditional souvenir at the end of the tour.

You will find out the amazing facts about The Palace of Parliament, why and how it was built and all about Ceausescu's crazy dream. We do not enter inside the building.

Stop At: Romanian Academy House, Casa Academiei Române, Calea 13 Septembrie 13, București, Romania
Built at the same time with the Parliament in order to please the wife of the dictator, that was dreaming to become the lead scientist of the country even though she was low educated.

Stop At: Palatul Bragadiru, Calea Rahovei 147-153, Bucharest 050892 Romania
Find out the story of the rich man Bragadiru and how all his goods and businesses were confiscated by communists. This was applied to all businesses in the '50s, they all became state owned.

A monastery built in 18th century, that escaped from the demolition done during communism and a part of it was actually moved entirely just to fulfill the big plans of the dictator.
