Skip the Line: Mauermuseum Checkpoint Charlie Entrance Ticket Berlin
Our museum was founded shortly after the construction of the Wall (13 August 1961), and opened on 19 October 1962. "As closely as possible to injustice is where human greatness reveals itself the most," said our museum's founder Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt. So he used the museum at Checkpoint Charlie as an expression of protest against the Wall, and to help those in need. The museum grew over time and helped bring the Wall down. The museum has helped write history.
Wall Museum - Checkpoint Charlie, Friedrichstr. 43-45, 10969 Berlin Germany
The Mauermuseum - Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie was founded and opened immediately after the construction of the Wall in 1962 by Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt, directly at the legendary border crossing Checkpoint Charlie as an initiative of civic engagement.
The permanent exhibition on the Berlin Wall shows the history of the world's most inhuman border. In the exhibition rooms you can see original objects of successful escapes from getaway cars to hot-air balloons, self-made mini-submarines and surfboards. In addition to the exhibition themes, the museum shows works by artists who have processed this horrific history into their kind of art.
The second thematic complex of the museum is the history of the international non-violent struggle for human rights, the GDR opposition and the liberation movements of Central and Eastern Europe up to the fall of the Iron Curtain. The exhibition "NATO - Mission for Freedom" completes the themes of post-war history.
