Heading out of Stirling to The National Wallace Monument you will pass Stirling Old Bridge.

Although the original timber bridge from the famous 1297 Battle of Stirling Bridge no longer exists, Stirling Old Bridge stands just downstream.

Steeped in history, Old Stirling Bridge was built in the late 1400s or early 1500s by Murdoch, Duke of Albany.

One of its arches was blown up by General Blackney in 1745 in an attempt to prevent Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Highlanders from crossing the River Forth.

Stirling Gin was founded in October 2015.

Situated at the foot of Stirling’s beautiful Castle in the Old Smiddy, the distillery building has existed since 1888 and began life as a church temperance hall.

From its humble roots, Stirling Distillery now produces a variety of spirits from gin to liqueurs and and has been distilling the city’s first whisky since October 2023.

Stirling Distillery operates informative guided experiences which cater for gin and whisky enthusiasts, and offers gin-making classes where visitors can experiment with botanicals and make their own gin.

All of their experiences include a walk through Stirling’s dark and dramatic history, the transformation of the building, an in-depth look at distilling and a complete tasting session.
