This tour company was very well represented by my tour guide Bob ! Not only was he knowledgeable about the area, but he was very professional and personable. As a truck driver, I was impressed by how he communicated with numerous trucks on this road, by using his CB radio to warn as we were coming on curves and pulling over to give room on narrow roads. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights, and he stopped to let us out to view them several times, for as long as we wanted. Count yourself fortunate to see the lights, and very lucky to have Bob as your guide !!

Our guide Ken was great. He was very knowledgeable about the area and found the northern lights for us to view. Couldn't have asked for a better tour for our trip of a lifetime. Top it off was the scenery in peak fall colors. Magnificent!

Our tour guide, Dave, was very knowledgeable about Alaskan lore, wildlife and history, and answered all our questions. He was very personable and made sure we did not get bored during the LONG drive from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle (~200 miles each way). He stopped a number of times at scenic/historical spots for photo ops.
There were 8 of us in the van, but it was roomy so we didn’t feel cramped or uncomfortable.
We had been forewarned that seeing the Northern Lights was “up to Mother Nature”. The Kp forecast was only “1-2”, along with cloudy skies and a full moon! So we concentrated on enjoying ourselves on the way, and were determined not to be disappointed if we didn’t get to see the lights.
We reached the Arctic Circle as the sun was setting, but there was enough light for us to get great pics at the Arctic Circle Sign. We had our “award ceremony” (got our “official” Arctic Circle certificates and posed for more pics) and then had our dinner. By the time we were done, it was getting dark, the clouds had skittered away, and the moon had still not risen above the tree line! Dave said he was really hopeful about the lights and advised us to wait till after 11:00 pm for a chance to see them, which we were super glad to do.
And soon after, the show started, and WHAT A SHOW IT WAS! FYI, the Northern Lights, as seen by the naked eye, are not the expected vivid greens and blues, but a milky white instead. But when photographed with long exposure, those colors pop in the pictures! So initially, it was difficult to identify the wispy streams of milky white we were seeing as the famed Northern Lights. But thanks to Dave’s coaching we were soon able to spot them for ourselves. And then, as time went by, those wisps turned into vast ribbons that weaved and danced and undulated their way across the night sky. And when my husband took long exposure shots with his phone (Samsung), those milky white ribbons morphed into streaming curtains of neon green with bits of blue/purple/pink. What an amazing and awe-inspiring experience!
The lights followed us half the way back to Fairbanks, and Dave stopped a couple of times so we could get additional shots (no one wanted the experience to end!).
We didn’t see any wildlife along the way but we’re not complaining!
Overall, we had an incredible time on the Doyon/Viator Arctic Circle and Northern Lights Tour from Fairbanks, and highly recommend it. THANK YOU Dave and Doyon/Viator!

Ken is super nice, friendly and knowledgeable. We are a group of 4, had our tour on August 30. There only 8 of us in a small van, good to have a small group! We were able to see the northern lights at around 1am. The first hill that we went to was slightly too windy and chill so Ken brought us to another one. He helped us to set up the camera, find a good angle for photos. Overall his guidance and explanation throughout the day was awesome! We've been to many places and really enjoyed the tour. Highly recommended this tour and Ken as your tour guide!

I usually don't do the group tour thing, but I highly recommend this tour. The price was fairly good for 2 adults compared to the cost of a vehicle rental you are able to drive on the Dalton Highway (with limited mileage). We had a total of 4 people on our tour and didn't spend too much time in any one location, so it moved fast enough to keep my interest. :)

Our guide, Dave, picked us up on time in his tour van. The van was roomy and had large windows for viewing the scenery and wildlife. Dave was very knowledgeable about Alaska and the Dalton Highway. He was a very safe driver, even on the ice and with large trucks zipping past us. He had answers for all of our questions.

Our tour stopped plenty of times to allow us to stretch our legs and take pictures. One of my favorite stops was the Yukon River Camp. The girls that work there are so nice. They let us use their sleds so we could sled down the hill onto the Yukon River, which was quite an experience. They had a cute little "Arctic Circle/Dalton Highway" pin I picked up there for my collection.

The packed lunch they provided was pretty tasty. The sandwich was good, I just wish it didn't come with mayo. All the food was easy to eat in the van and filled me up for the duration of the tour.

The Arctic Circle sign was the highlight of the tour. We tried to get as many creative pictures as we could there (it did take hours and hours to get here after all). It was a bit nippy out and another tour bus was there, but we didn't have to wait long to have the place to ourselves.

On the way back to the city, we tried to chase the northern lights. But, unfortunately, we were unsuccessful. There wasn't a star in the sky. Dave tried his hardest by looking for openings in the clouds and stopping at many viewpoints on the way back to the city, but we just weren't lucky enough to see them.

We didn't see much wildlife on this trip - it's like they were on vacation or something. The only animal we caught a quick peek of was a lynx.

We got back to the city around 3am, making it about a 13 hour tour. Overall, the tour was fun and kept my interest and the guide was great. I'll admit, I did fall asleep in the van a few times on the way back, but I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to cross the Arctic Circle. I don't think I'd take smaller children on this tour just because of the length of the tour, but I know I plan to check out Alaska Guide Wildlife Tours again when I return.

What a long trip! They picked us around 1:20pm that day, then we back to hotel around 5:30am in the morning. Even it was a long trip, it's worth to have an Arctic Circle experience. We explored beautiful attractions on the way to the Arctic Circle, and we chased northern light on the way back. Ricky is awesome, he's humor and REALLY talkative. You won't feel bored along the road!

Our tour guide name Mike. He is really fun and love Alaska. He had enough knowledge to tell about Alaska. He is a good driver. Dalton Highway is a definitely dangerous highway, you wont want to drive if you don't know how. Mike knew what he was doing. On our way, he will stop and park on the side way for us to watch the wile animals if we saw some. On our way back, he was looking the northern lights for us. It really helpful especially for us, since we did not know what should be expected for at the very first day. The trip is kinda pricey, but you wont't regret to hire some to take you at all. It actually the best decision we made for our trip.

How can you go to Fairbanks and not take a drive up to the Arctic Circle? You can't! Or at least, you shouldn't. The northern lights don't always cooperate but the particular winter beauty and desolation of the road out of Fairbanks and the Dalton Highway along the pipeline, along with artisan Dorothy and her cabin on the Yukon River shore yes!, and the photo ops duh make this tour a must. Our guide's name escapes me, but he was a refugee from New Jersey, Michigan, and Los Angeles who lives for fishing, quotes Robert Service, and makes extra money driving first-time, only-time visitors up to the Arctic Circle and back - quintessential Alaska.

Our tour guide, David, was impressively knowledgeable about the wildlife, geography, and history of the land and overall was a really nice guy. We stopped at a really cool Yukon roadside station to get food and interact with some of the locals who were interesting and gave me a ride on their snowmobile! before continuing up to the Circle. We stopped to take pictures of the sunset and got an official Arctic Circle certificate afterward, and yes, we saw the Aurora! It wasn't as bright as we were hoping because the moon was nearly full, so I highly recommend doing this trip when it's a new moon or close to it. Check before you book, and check the weather too as clouds will obstruct the view. The silver lining was that we saw not only the green lights but the rarer pink and red ones too. So maybe it was a red lining? Also! Keep in mind, humans can only detect so much with the naked eye and the Aurora will look similar to how we see the Milky Way: Yellow-gray, somewhat pale. The photographs of bursting skies are only visible with long camera exposures the same way all those extra stars in astrophotography are only visible with cameras. This doesn't dampen the experience at all especially because you CAN see colors with the eye alone, but it's a good heads up for those expecting a saturated tie-dye sky.

I'd totally do this again. There's no such thing as seeing the Northern Lights too many times, especially over such a breathtaking landscape.
