Cagliero Glacier Ice Trekking from El Chalten
We invite you to go on a very special activity, where we combine trails, rock and ice to live a true mountain experience. Our Trekking tour on the Cagliero Glacier will take you on a full day trip to Los Huemules reserve, one of the most beautiful areas of El Chalten.
Together with experienced guides, you will hike along trails in the middle of the forest, until reaching the imposing Cagliero Glacier, where you will have the opportunity to walk on the ice, to reach a stunning viewpoint. Do not miss it!

You will meet your guide at your hotel in El Chalten at 08 am.
Stop At: Reserva Natural Los Huemules, RP 41- 16 Km north of El Chaltén, El Chalten Z9301 Argentina
You will travel to los Huemules Ranch, which visitors centre is the starting point of this excursion.

At 09 am we will start the trekking, following upstream the Diablo River, on a 2 hour long hike through a lush forest of lengas, going by a well maintained trail, which will give us access to the Diablo Lagoon (770 masl), from where you can see the Cagliero Refuge, and from where the second stage of our excursion begins, outside the Estancia Los Huemules.

At 11 o'clock approximately, the second part of this excursion begins, which consists of skirting the northern margin of the Devil's Lagoon by an easy but irregular terrain until reaching the beginning of a via ferrata (rock climbing sector). The total extention of this section is 1 km long, with 200 meters of unevenness.
Approximately, it will take us one hour to reach the viewpoint of the glacier. From there, we can observe the unexplored Cagliero Sur Glacier (950 masl). From the viewpoint, a short walk takes us to the front of the Glacier where the guides will distribute the crampons, to begin the third part of our program: the trekking and hiking on the glacier. The average time spent on top of the glacier will be of about 2 hours, depending on the weather conditions and the physical level of the group.

The meeting time with the transfer will be at 5.30 pm, and we will return to the starting point at El Chalten around 6:30 pm.
