Siem Reap Street Food Evening Tour
  • Siem Reap Street Food Evening Tour

Taste the best of Siem Reap’s street food on a 3-hour night tour! Hop on a remork-moto (a motorized rickshaw) and ride off the beaten path to explore Cambodian cuisine with your food-loving local guide. On this epic food adventure, you’ll sample delicious and authentic local snacks, desserts and Khmer culinary staples. Try anything from mouthwatering, skewered meat to duck eggs or even fried crickets – they’re tastier than you think! Numbers are limited to 12 people, ensuring an intimate experience with a small group of like-minded foodies.

It’s time for an epic local food adventure. Your authentic Siem Reap evening starts off with a ride on a moto-remork, an articulated moto-rickshaw that’s commonly seen on Siem Reap’s streets. We’ll zip you through the streets, off the tourist trail and straight into local street heaven.

Your food-loving local guide will uncover hidden local street food treasures and beloved recommendations of local snacks, such as yellow bean cake or Khmer rice cake. Our food mission continues with a tasting of seasonal fruits that are grown in and around Siem Reap, like the purple kiwi fruit-like dragon fruit, mango, tiny (but sweet!) pineapple, and the stinky king of all fruit – the mighty durian! You’ll also see the spices and other ingredients featured in local food, and hear about the traditional remedies and medicine.

Next, we’ll hit up a local picnic spot where stalls are set up in the early evening selling a multitude of interesting snacks. As we wander around, you might see fried tarantulas, which are usually enjoyed with a cold beer; fried crickets, which taste like potato chips; barbecued meat on skewers; Khmer Fried Chicken; green mango served with chili and salt; ducks eggs; barbecued corn; and deliciously sweet purple mangosteen.

Hopefully you still have room for even more amazing Cambodian food, because our next stop is a local restaurant to sample some tasty local delicacies, before finishing at a dessert stall where fruit shakes, fruit with sweeten condensed milk and baked puddings are the specialty.

After dinner, you’ll have the option to return to your hotel or end our Siem Reap food tour at Pub Street – a convenient spot that’s perfect for exploring local bar and café life. Alternatively, our local guide will be happy to provide some less touristy recommendations for a great night out.

Kim is a former monk who will guide you along a great variety of foods. Some are weird and exotic, such as balut and insects. Other foods are very friendly to the Western palate. Great to sample.

The tour guide was fantasticthe best so far in my asia travels. I didnt get an in depth history lesson and tour of opera house like in Hong Kongwe spent a full three hours plus visiting various markets, eating a huge variety of food and had a wicked good time.

Kim was our guide, and he was FANTASTIC. We were picked up at our hotel by tuk tuk and driven to the local market to explore, learn and taste different local fruits and Cambodian cuisine. Kim was our perfect guide because he was kind and patient with my 10 year old, encouraging her to try new things, but he was not overwhelming and pushy when she was uncertain about some foods. We learned so much, had a wonderful time, and we will never forget this tour. We highly recommend this activity. Thank you, Kim, for making this experience a highlight of our trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed the street food evening tour with a group of four including the guide, Kim. The Khemer snacks varied from grilled fish and fresh fruits to fried crickets, scorpions and steamed snails. The dinner menu offered a variety of local Khemer dishes. We each picked a main dish and found the food to be scrumptious. Note - our tummies were fine the next day. Just take the usual precautions and bring wet wipes along and enjoy the food trail!

Thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The guide was hilarious. He took part in all the food tasting which encouraged us to do the same. The insects and other food except the fruit was cooked so give it a try.

This was so fun and like their motto says...Best day ever. We went to many local street food markets amd tried a varity of exotic foods...even scorpians and frogs, which I never dreamed I would eat. Ou guide Kim giftus ed a scarf to wear during the tour that doubled as a napkin and you definitely need it! We had so many, sometimes messy foods to try! We rode around in tuk tuks, which is a blast in itself and the drivers were great! We finished up the tour with a sit down dinner at a restaurant and shared beers and got to know our other tour members better. They were from all over the world. It was a very fun night and I highly recommend it to anyone!

Our guide was amazing! He took us to local markets only. We tried SO MUCH FOOD, including more ordinary things like fish and a dozen different tropical fruits we don't have back in the States and it got as crazy as several different types of critters- grasshopper, balut, scorpion, red ants, frog, etc. There was no pressure to try any of the food there were actually a few people on the tour who barely ate anything but I loved that we had the opportunity to try things we would never have eaten back home. By the time we got to the restaurant at the end of the tour, we were all already stuffed. So start the tour hungry.

I loved the variety. We went to a market for fish, quail, fruit, desserts. Then local picnic spot I never would have known about-not Pub Street. We had insects, frog, duck egg, beef and more dessert, then restaurant for Khmer food. The guide is a cook so explained ingredients. The environment was great

Would never have experienced such foods if I tried on my own. Our guide was terrific and we managed to sample a huge range of the wild and wonderful. Top marks for this tour - better yet, it was the least expensive on offer.

This was an interesting tour. Our guide and driver were once again excellent and we got to taste a wide range of foods from fruits to bugs, and yes spiders, scorpians, frogs and so on. If like me you are a bit doubtful about tasting bugs you don't have to, but I must say that those I did try were not as you would expect them to be. I chickened out on the scorpion and spider but tasted the rest and it wasn't as bad as you may think. If you are looking at doing something different whilst in Cambodia, my wife and I would recommend this tour to you. Phil and Janine Griffin, Australia

Mr Vanny our local tour guide was awesome. We only has two persons in the tour on that evening. He is also a very funny and chill guy and has lots of tales, foods history to tell. My favourite on that night is a green.papaya salad made by a lady seller at road 60 area and fried insects+cocoons!

Excellent. We were the only two on the tour and our guide Kim was really good. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, including tasting crickets, silkworms and so on. We thought the tour would be in Pub St, but it wasn't. It was at the local market at 60 Metre Road. No tourists around. Only very friendly locals.

I read other reviews stating that we would try things we never otherwise would have tried in Cambodia - this was very true to the extreme as we ate things we never thought we would eat. Very interesting and entertaining night with a great guide!

This was a really great way to sample the street food in Siem Reap with lots of different food types to sample. Our guide was Kim and he was very knowledgeable in explaining how the food is prepared all along the stalls on 60 metre street. We started with a variety of different fruit before moving onto sampling various protein foods which was all very intersting. We then went to a local restaurant for dinner. There was a lot of food so i suggest having a light lunch so you can try everything on offer. We had a really great experience.

While not being highly adventurous with my cuisine, this was a great way to learn about the local specialities. I was never made to feel like I should be trying something I was uncomfortable with but had a great time with other guests doing so. A wide range of foods was offered at several different places, exploring markets and travelling between locations in tuk tuks. The restaurant meal at the end of the meal was hardly needed but one of the best we had in Siem Reap. A great cultural experience eating with the locals, saw heaps and had loads of fun,........ Oh and we ate lots of good food.

Had fantastic tour with very friendly guide Khemara Kim in end June.
We visited the place where there were many tents arranged by locals and only locals were cooking food on the street. Saw lots of Siem Reap specialities and tried some of them, like snake fish. By the time we had our dinner at Phanha Khmer Restaurant, I was already full. 100 recommended

Our guide, Kim, was fantastic! We started out meeting at a street market and went right to the bug stall, LOL! Definitely lots of interesting items to try. We wandered through the market trying tons of local foods and then went on to an actual sit down dinner at a restaurant at which point I was already full! We were given a Cambodian plaid napkin/scarf as a keepsake, which was a nice touch.

One of the highlights of my time in Cambodia. The tour guide was quite informative. I got to see a side of Cambodia a normal tourist wouldn't see. I went to places where I was the only tourist in sight. It was amazing to see and taste the local cuisines. Highly recommend if you want to see a different side of Cambodia. Guide was not pushy at all, he let me try food at my own pace. If I refused he was okay with it. It also really helped that he would show me how to eat the food first. I felt so comfortable and intrigued by the whole tour.
My tour guide was a man called Khemara Kim, during the day he runs an NGO training school teaching the youth of Cambodia how to cook. Lovely man, lovely tour.
