The Sir John Monash Centre is set on the grounds of the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery in the Somme, adjacent to the Australian National Memorial. The Sir John Monash Centre is the hub of the Australian Remembrance Trail along the Western Front and its cutting-edge multimedia centre reveals the Australian Western Front experience through a series of interactive media installations and immersive experiences. Within the cemetery stands the Australian National Memorial erected to commemorate all Australian soldiers who fought in France and Belgium during the First World War. 10,729 Australian servicemen are officially commemorated by this Memorial where every year takes place the Dawn Service during the Anzac Day celebrations on April 25.

The memorial, located Close to the ruin of the Gibraltar blockhouse, was taken from the Germans when the Australian 1st Division attacked, took, and held Pozières village between 23 and 26 July 1916. The Memorial commemorates the officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of the First Australian Division who fought in France and Belgium in 1916.
