The Prado National Museum (Museo Nacional del Prado) dates back almost 200 years has been described as a museum of painters not of paintings. The museum features largest holdings of Bosch, Titian, El Greco, Rubens, Velázquez and Goya, some numbering more than 100 works. This admission ticket gets you in to explore at your leisure during museum opening hours.

Visit: Prado National Museum, Calle Ruiz de Alarcon 23, 28014 Madrid Spain

The Prado (Museo Nacional del Prado) and its collections of paintings, drawings, and sculpture reflect the history of Spain, whose waning role on the international stage in the 19th century reduced its appeal for foreign artists. Spanish artists now trained and worked abroad: in Rome at the beginning of the century, and from the mid-century onward in Paris, the new world capital of art. The nationalistic fervor that characterized the entire century, reflected by Spanish artists in canvases celebrating the country’s peoples, landscapes and history, and the Disentailment of ecclesiastical possessions which, when they entered the Prado from the Museo de la Trinidad, significantly enriched the original holdings from the Royal Collection, are all reflected in the Museum’s collections, which terminate in 1881, the year of Picasso’s birth.

While primarily oriented towards painting, these collections also include outstanding examples of sculpture, the decorative arts and works on paper, from antiquity to the 19th century.

Purchasing a ticket prior to arriving at the Prado Museum is a must as it avoids standing in two lines. We purchased the tickets online, which could be used at anytime on the day selected. The Prado opens at 10 AM on weekdays and we arrived at approximately 9:45 with only about 40 people in line ahead of us. However, there was already a long line formed to purchase tickets. We entered the museum promptly at 10 AM However, there was a substantial line behind us at that time Get your tickets in advance!

The museum we found very like all the others in big cities - not very inspiring but the paintings are wonderful. We planned our route before we got there and only looked at paintings of interest to us.

The Museo Nacional del Prado is a must-see if you are in Madrid. As an art lover, I spent close to six hours looking at all of the exhibitions. Because I bought the ticket, I was able to skip the line and enjoy myself to the fullest. If I visit Madrid again and want to visit the museum again, I will definitely buy this ticket.

Beautifully laid out, and easy to navigate, you can't help but revel in the works of Raphael, Rubens, Rembrandt, De Goya, Bosch, and the list goes on. This is for art lovers and anyone who just enjoys beauty.

Easy purchase process and no line ups....plan a half day to fully appreciate the collection. The gallery is and the number of works is huge so it's well worth researching what you want to see in advance.

The sheer scale of this museum is something in itself. 75+ rooms and hallways of art. Thats excluding any special exhibits. Top works from many of the masters- Spanish and Dutch especially but others too.

The Prado Museum had El Greco, Goya, Velasquez, and even special displays of Rembrandt and Fra Angelico and the rise of the Florentine Renaissance. It had a beautiful display of varied art.

They were not kidding when they said skip the line! When we walked up, there was a line snaked around the building. We walked up to ask where we go if we have these ticket and they ushered us right inside! The museum was great!

As I approached the Prado Museum, the long line snaking around the entrance caused me to mentally jump for joy that I had pre-purchased the no-line entry voucher. The museum is fabulous and covers many time periods, so budget your time to ensure that you are able to enjoy your priority galleries and artists.

If you are familiar with the museum this is a great way to visit El Prado on your own, specially on a busy holiday. Skip the line and just walk thru security.

The Prado is almost without parallel as a museum. The ability of the Spanish kings to collect European art and thus preserve it for our generation is something to behold. The collection is so extensive that there must be something for every taste in painting and sculpture too, if we had the time and energy to absorb that too.

Very large, beautiful museum. Easy to get to via wonderful Metro system in Madrid. Don't miss this one and allow time to see as it is very expansive. We spent 3 hours and could have spent that much more time if we'd had the energy. Definitely buy skip the line ticks.

It did not really save me time as I waited in the wrong line even after asking the staff where I should present my ticket the entrance is the to far left, there are 2 lines. I was there in the busy season and the line was not crazy long. I suppose it was good to have but I am sure I paid more as opposed to just buying tickets straight from the museum. The museum is amazing though!

This was great as the queue even at 10:00am when the Prodo opened was down the around the corner. We were able to enter without having to queue to buy tickets and went straight in. So much to see and as the day went on the queues got longer so I would suggest you get there early.

The tickets for the Prado Museum are reasonable. The exhibit itself when I was there was just OK....I think go to the museum when it's either a rainy or a very hot afternoon...all in all, it was an informative experience

The Prado is obviously a very satisfying experience for anyone who appreciates fine art in a setting like this, but I found that my experience would have benefited from a little more preparation. I know that some people are happy to see just what they see, but there were some works I wanted to see that I missed, partly because of time constraints and largely because I didn't prepare sufficiently. Oh, well, I'll just have to go back someday.
