Set out to the Transylvanian Highlands in the comfort of a luxury minivan, on this guided 7 hour small group tour from Brasov. Explore the dramatic scenery and deep history of some of the world’s most famous castles, such as Bran’s Castle, commonly known as Dracula’s Castle, Peles Castle, and Rasnov Citadel. Immerse yourself in the history and legends of Transylvania.
This full day guided tour takes you from 13th century fortresses, to a 19th century fairy tale castle with lavish courtyards and majestic interiors.
Departing in the morning from Brasov, your first stop after about 30 minutes, will be the small town of Rasnov, home to Rasnov Citadel. You’ll explore this fortress which was built by Teutonic Knights, as a refuge for inhabitants of the area. Discover the history and enjoy the wonderful view over Brasov.
From there the tour continues to Bran Castle, commonly known as Dracula’s Castle, and a national landmark and monument in Romania. Here you can wander through the castle’s rooms and chambers which contain gothic furnishings, and learn details about the ghastly legends surrounding the castle.
Next we’ll cross the mountains to visit the most beautiful castle in Romania, Peles Castle. This castle, the summer residence of the royal family, showcases rooms beautifully decorated in Moorish and Florentine styles, wood carved ceilings, and famous art work, making this the gem of the crown among Romanian castles.
After a day of touring castles, and learning about the Transylvanian Highlands, the tour will conclude with a drive back to Brasov, returning around 4pm.
