My memories of Taiwan as an 8 year old are vague-- my home in Tien Mu, my school, eating Mongolian BBQ, the Grand Hotel and the corner store by my house. When the opportunity to spend 12 hours in Taipei came up recently, my thoughtful husband found this tour to give me the opportunity to walk down memory lane and show him the sites. Jack Chou was the perfect guide with which to do it. Not only was he game for anything, his enthusiasm was infectious. He seemed to enjoy hitting all these spots and discovering changes as much as we did! And to have the opportunity to speak with him on current events, politics, families, and the like (what happened to all the Mongolian restaurants in town??) was an additional treat. I'll not soon forget this tour of my memories and I'm thankful to Mr. Chou for his wonderful part in it. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend!! We spent the day with Alan from YOLO Tours and we couldn't have asked for a better day. We saw everything that we wanted to see in Taipei, along with a few surprise extras. He was even able to get us into Din Tai Fung without a wait! He was organized, experienced, and lots of fun to be around. If we had more time, we definitely would take more tours with him around Taiwan.

Note: The option below states "family (teens)". We didn't travel with any children or teens, but it's the closest option.

We had such an amazing experience with Alan, an owner of YOLO Tours, that we booked him again for the next day to show us more of Taipei.

He was able to get our requested sites in and more, and offered local insight and history into everything. His English is great, and he's very friendly and accommodating. He picked us up at the airport and after a full day of sightseeing and eating, dropped us off at our hotel.

We also did a group tour with a different company, and it doesn't even come close to how great this private tour is. On the group tour you are constantly rushed on and off the bus and end up doing things you really don't want, whereas with this private tour, everything is customized and you have a private tour guide. Highly recommend you book this private tour if you want the most out of Taipei, trust me it's worth the price.

This tour can be recommended for travelers who don't have much time, especially if you fly through Taipei and make a one-day stop in Taiwan. I was picked up from Novotel Taipei Taoyuan hotel at 8 am (with my luggage) and dropped off at the airport at about 4:30 pm. This was very convenient and saved my time. I was the only person on the tour. It is worth noting that this is a "custom tour"; where there is no prearranged schedule. The guide will ask you what you would like to see and will plan the trip accordingly. This worked perfectly in my case, but may be problematic for those who want the decisions made for them; that is for those who prefer a typical standard one-day tour of Taipei (although I am sure the tour operators should be able to take you to the places most tourist visit in the city). I wanted to see as much of the island as possible in eight hours; I was less interested in spending the time in Taipei. Thus, on my tour we visited the Taipei Baoan temple and walked the area around, then left the city for the mountainous Yangmingshan national park where stopped at the site of the sulfur mining (distinguished by the heavy smell of hydrogen sulfide - rotten eggs), visited the park with the Yang-ming statue, and continued to nearly the top of the volcanic range, where stopped at an active geothermal site with impressive plums and noisy streams of steam erupting from the slopes. Next was the drive to the coastal city of Jinshan, a beautiful drive along the cost to Fugui cape lighthouse where one can enjoy scenic views from the northernmost point of Taiwan. We had lunch at Fuji fish market where one can get a variety of live seafood, to be cooked in the neighboring restaurant. Our lunch of shrimp and crab with rice was delicious (ca. $20 per person). After lunch, the tour continued to the fisherman's wharf at the mouth of Tamsui river, where the wide views to the ocean (on one side) and to Taipei (on the other) are impressive. We made one more short stop on the banks of Tamsui river. Then I was taken to the airport. All in all, this was a wonderful day with a very friendly and helpful guide who showed me the gems of the northern part of Taiwan - all in just a bit over eight hours! I could not have spent the day better! At the end, it is worth noting that my guide was a Taiwanese person, not a native speaker of English; naturally he spoke with an accent. This can possibly be a problem with some visitors; however, I don't have a reason to complain.

This was a great experience from beginning to end. Booking was easy, communication was very good and our guide Roger was delightful. His command of English was good and he was very knowledgeable without drowning us in facts. We were able to cover a great deal in a day and Roger had plenty of insider knowledge to get to the best places and views. He was a charming young man, flexible and thoughtful. Worth every penny!

Jack was incredible!!!! Jack made sure we hit all the major spots and had extensive historical stories to tell. Small/private tours are absolutely the best. You get the true local view. We have had nothing but positive experiences with Viator and will continue to use them whenever possible.

      It was an excellent experience.
I didn't know where to start having eleven hours of layover. A friend recommended a private tour with Viator. The driver, Jack, picked us up at the airport and gave us a great tour around Taipei. He was very pleasant and courteous with us
I can not express enough how great everything was
I planned to use Viator more often on my trips.
      Thank you Viator
      Thank you Jack

Jimmy Lin safely drove us to all our chosen destinations in Taipei City, ending with a spectacular night view from an outdoor deck of the Grand Hotel. He explained much history of Taiwan and this city, answering many questions we had and so many more that arose along the way. This was such a great way to see a lot in one day, saving us time and adding the pleasure of meeting a warm and gracious Taiwanese man.

Tim our tour guide was amazing. He was waiting when we arrived at the cruise port, his car was immaculate and he provided water. He spoke really good English and fed us with really interesting information the whole day. We couldn’t believe how much we fitted into the day and felt like we learned so much about the country, customs and different beliefs. We even had time for a fantastic soup dumpling lunch and was treated to the Local Bubble tea ( not really my thing). All in all this was by far the best day of our 17 night trip and we were taken by surprise at how beautiful and interesting Taiwan really is. The old and new make this trip one to remember. Thank you again Tim

My parents and I came from Australia and we did a one day tour with Tim and it was first class. It was the highlight of my parents trip to Taiwan. Tim listened to our every need and fully customised the tour to our liking, even though I only sent through request one hour prior to him picking us up! Some of our requests were not the regular tourist spots, however Tim had great knowledge of Taiwan and gave us a great experience.

One of the best experiences was at Baoan Temple where he explained which gates to walk in and out of and various things that happen inside the temple. Even as a seasoned traveller there were so many things that I didn't know and wouldn't have known if Tim wasn't there. Highly recommended.

We did this tour on our first day in Taipei so to get oriented. Our guide, Jack was amazing. He tailored the tour to our preferences. We visited many interesting places and Jack explained in detail the history and geography of each location. In addition Jack also was delighted to cater for some less usual requests like, e.g. helping me buy the easycard for commuting in the MRT. It was a great day and indeed provided enough orientation to help us planning the rest of our visit to Taipei.

Alan was an amazing tour guide from start to finish! I cant say enough about him. He was very knowledgeable about everything he showed me and a great conversationalist. I only had 8 hours to spend visiting Taipei and I feel like he showed me all the highlights and made it very easy for me from the moment he picked me up at my hotel and then dropped me off at the airport so I could catch my flight. I was worried about the tour guide speaking fluent English and I can honestly say there was not a moment of communication problem. Alan was kind and very courteous. The tour and service was excellent and in fact I would highly recommend his tour! My daughter will be taking the same trip soon and I will suggest to her to take the same tour. Thank you so much Alan! Excellent job!

Caleb was one of our best tour guides EVER! We were grounded a day by a typhoon so he adjusted our schedule to include a guided tour of the National Palace Museum. His knowledge of antiquities, art and history made the visit exceptional. We made it to the changing of the guard at the Chiang Kai Shek memorial and toured the Baoan temple too. We highly recommend him!

We enjoyed the National Palace Museum, The Grand Hotel, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, and President's Office. We then had a very tasty lunch at Din Tai Fung. Henry even bought us the popular bubble tea from 50. We will definitely recommend this tour :)

We were glad that we took his recommendation to visit the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, a great introduction to the country. Well worth the value. Willie did an outstanding job!

We only had 2 days in Taipei and had a list of things we wanted to see. We booked this custom tour and were lucky to have Jack. He was AMAZING! From picking us up in the lobby with a sign, to his immaculately clean car, to his great English - we were really lucky to have gotten him. You can customize this tour 100% what you would like to see / do. We had a special request to donate a book to a Taipei library that he was even able to accomplish (I am a teacher). He went out of his way to accommodate all our needs; he won't drop you off, but will park and go with you everywhere. Will take all pictures you want, explain everything about Taipei and more. Highly recommend booking this tour and ask for Jack!!

We chose this full day private custom Taipei Tour because we wanted some special and private moment. We were glad to find that our guide and driver, Alan, was the great one to handle our needs. We were brought to the Grand Hotel, the marvellous historical place, then we went to the National Palace Museum and enjoyed some time there. We took our lunch together in the local restaurant and the dishes tasted well. We then finished our trip after visiting Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and Park.

We experienced the wonderful time, minutes by minutes, and Alan did above our expectations: he came before time then we discussed about our needs together with his program, he told some good informations about the city, the people, and the activities around. He had great knowledge about the Taiwanese, the city of Taipeh, and the Taiwan country. He also knew the routes and drove almost perfect while he doing his job as the travel guide.

We were very blessed to have him as our guide and driver all in one package.

This is a very recommended tour if you are willing to know Taipei more in a very private group. I would like to give more than 5 stars, but unfortunately there are only 5 buttons here. Anyway, thank you YOLO, you're doing absolutely great.
