Small Group Redwoods and Wine Country Day Trip from San Francisco
  • Small Group Redwoods and Wine Country Day Trip from San Francisco

Enjoy the magical redwood forest known as Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, one of the most beautiful sights in the world with Coastal Sequoias (Redwoods) that are taller (310 feet/95 meters), bigger (15 feet/4.6 meters wide), and older (1400 years old) than the trees in Muir Woods. This grove is more spectacular than Muir Woods. We guarantee it.

You will also have an opportunity to visit 3 wineries and sample some of the finest wines California has to offer. Lunch is included and will be served at the first winery.

After the wine tasting, we will start on our return to San Francisco with a drive to the Marin Headlands, which provides stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco beyond. This is an excellent opportunity to take some memorable photographs.

This was our first time in San Francisco and we are very happy that we booked the Redwood and Wine Day Trip. Phil Siegel was excellent and a very knowledgeable tour guide. I would recommend him to anyone.

The only thing I would suggest is a more substantial lunch during the wine tasting. I thought we could order a whole sandwich and salad but had to settle for half of each. You really need a little more food in your stomach when you are tasting so many wines. The server at Kendall Jackson was extremely generous in his servings and could have used some munchies.

Overall it was a great day and we enjoyed it very much thanks to Phil.

We had such a great time. This tour was led by “Paul”. He was fantastic!!! Lots of fun, and had an excellent knowledge of the city, wine country and woods. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour to visitors who want to get a day trip out the city to see the beautiful tres and get a taste of wine country.

Our tour guide was Phil S. and he made the trip awesome! Went on a mother/daughter trip and this was one of our favorite days. The group had a fantastic time and truly enjoyed the whole day.

We were picked up right in front of our hotel which was very nice. We had a total of 6 on the trip. Phil ensured everyone was comfortable and provided interesting facts and fun music during the drive. Armstrong park is a quiet peaceful area where you get to connect with Nature. Muir Woods are great too, but its loud due to the wooden walkways. The tour continued on to the first wineries where we had a light lunch and delicious wines. We visited two more wineries to enjoy a few more whines. We had plenty to try and plenty of time to enjoy each stop.

Thank you for a great day!

Our guide was great and very knowledgeable about all things San Francisco. We had never been to wine country, so this was a great introductory tour. We were in a van with one other couple from the UK. Definitely worth the price.

phil our tour guide was wonderful and very personable! he made sure we got a wonderful view of the golden gate without fog, and plenty of time to walk through armstrong redwoods. I do wish the individual wineries taught us more about how to taste and appreciate the wine. lunch was good but small! I was hoping for cheeses or crackers to pair the wine with to appreciate it better. Also so the wine didn't catch up to us at the end of the day, 3 wineries with 6 large pours at each definitely had me exhausted by the end of the day! The wineries were flexible if you said you'd prefer to try a white rather than a red! It was an older crowd and very casual, jeans and sneakers!

In my opinion Harvest Moon had the best wine, and Kendall Jackson was the prettiest!

Great: Our guide Brian was informative, fun, and professional
Good: Pick-up at hotel, incorporated redwoods (which is a must see) and 3 wineries
So-so: 1st winery was a nice, relatively small winery, Good wine, but were limited to tasting and lunch. 2nd winery was waste of time. They don't have a vineyard, tasting was OK but not great. 3rd winery was a big national brand. Wines good, but experience was limited to tasting. No tours or instruction on winemaking etc. Viator was good and well-organized. Guide was exceptional, Winery choices could be improved.
