The monarch (Danaus plexippus) is perhaps the most well known of all American butterflies.

The Monarch Butterfly is famous for it's migration, which is said to be one of the most fascinating phenomenons of the natural world.
Originating in southern Canada and the United States, they travel to overwintering and mountainous sites in central Mexico. This process covers the lifespan of three to four generations of the butterfly.

Join us on an incredible 3 day, 2 night journey, to experience the Colonial Towns of Pátzcuaro, Santa Clara del Cobre (copper town), and Morelia.
Take the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular landscapes and culture that these wonderful places offer. Witness these majestic creatures that are the Monarch Butterflies.

Itinerary

Day 1: Zihuatanejo - Patzcuaro - Copper town - Morelia

Stop At: Patzcuaro, Patzcuaro, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast
Pátzcuaro is a large town and municipality located in the state of Michoacán. The town was founded sometime in the 1320s, at first becoming the capital of the Tarascan state and later its ceremonial center.

In Pátzcuaro we will visit the 11 patios exconvent, also the basilica of Patzcuaro.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Santa Clara del Cobre, Patzcuaro 61800 Mexico
Santa Clara del Cobre is a Magical town and municipality located in the center of the state of Michoacán, Mexico, 18 km from Pátzcuaro and 79 km from the state capital of Morelia.

In Santa Clara del cobre we will visit the copper gallery, the copper museum and the copper factory.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Morelia, Morelia, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast
Morelia is a city and municipal seat of the municipality of Morelia in the north-central part of the state of Michoacán in central Mexico.

In Morelia will visit Candy Museum, Morelia Cathedral, ex convent where you can see many beautiful handcrafted items from the state of Michoacán.

Day 2: Agangueo - Monarch Butterflies Sanctuary - Morelia

Stop At: 61414 Angangueo, Mich., Mexico
Angangueo is a municipality located in far eastern Michoacán state in central Mexico noted for its history of mining and its location in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve.

We will visit he Monarch Butterflies Sanctuary.
Duration: 6 hours

Stop At: Santuario de la Mariposa Monarca, Mexico
Mariposa Monarca Biosphere Reserve is located in the eastern part of the state of Michoacán on the western border of the state of Mexico; it covers the municipalities of Temascalcingo, San Felipe del Progreso, Donato Guerra and Villa de Allende in the state of Mexico, and Contepec, Senguío, Angangueo, Ocampo, Zitácuaro.

In this place we will observe how majestic the Monarch Butterflies are, we will live the experience of this incredible momento.
Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: Catedral de Morelia, Av. el Progreso 35 Plaza de Armas & Plaza Melchor Ocampo, Morelia 58000 Mexico
Cathedral of Morelia is a Baroque-style, Roman Catholic cathedral located in the center of the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Morelia.
Duration: 30 minutes

Day 3: Morelia - Patzcuaro = Zihuatanejo

Stop At: Morelia, Morelia, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast
After breakfast at the hotel, we will tour the historical downtown area. We will stop at the Cathedral and tour the candy markets. Then we will return to Patzcuaro where we will enjoy lunch at the mirador (not included). After lunch we will have free time to explore the city center and then return back to Zihuatanejo

Stop At: Catedral de Morelia, Av. el Progreso 35 Plaza de Armas & Plaza Melchor Ocampo, Morelia 58000 Mexico
Visit the stunning cathedral built in 1700's. Listen to the church bells chime and hear the famous organ as it prepares for mass.
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Mercado de Dulces Y Artesanias Morelia, Valentin Gomez Farias, Centro Historico, Morelia Mexico
A sensory overload as you walk throught the extensive candy markets. Shop for sweets made locally or souviners.
Duration: 30 minutes
