Fort Provintia was listed as a national historic monument in 1983. The fortress was originally constructed by the Dutch in 1653 then destroyed and rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty and the period under Japanese rule.

Stop At: Koxinga Shrine, No. 152, Kaishan Rd., West Central Dist, West Central District, Tainan Taiwan

Koxinga Shrine was built in 1662 during the Ming Dynasty in the memory of achievement of Cheng Cheng Kung. It is also the only Fujianese style shrine in Taiwan.

Fort Zeelandia was built by the Dutch East India Company during their 38-year rule of the western part of Taiwan. The original fortress was nearly destroyed by the British army during the 19th century then reconstructed by the Japanese people.

Anping Tree House used to be the warehouse of the former Tait & Co. Merchant House. After being abandoned for many years, the building was taken over by banyan trees; the aerial roots reach the structures deeply and become a part of the building.

Originally named “Beishi Street”, now renamed for Yaowang Temple (literally means king of medicine) at the end of the street.

Shennong Street is located at the center of Old Five Channels Cultural Zone. Due to the infeasibility and difficulty of renovation, this area eventually keeps the old properties built in Qing Dynasty and the period under Japanese Rules. Today, this street has become a hot spot for hipsters and vintage lovers.

Hai'an Road Art Street is one of the most popular walking areas in Tainan. The public wall arts and installations along the street have become popular Instagram hotspots.

Stop At: Hayashi Department Store, No.63 Section 2, Zhongyi Road, Zhongxi District, West Central District, Tainan 700 Taiwan

1930s is the beginning of modern life in Taiwan. The opening of Hayahshi in 1932 reflects this modern trend. Electricity light bulb, telephone, movie, etc. all appeared in this era. However, the breakout of Pacific War put an end to Hayahshi. It is not until 2013 that this department stores has been refurbished, preserved, and transformed into an cultural and creative stores featuring local merchandise.

Stop At: National Museum of Taiwan Literature, No.1 Zhongzheng Road,Zhongxi District, West Central District, Tainan Taiwan

National Museum of Taiwan Literature is Taiwan’s first national institute dedicated to the literary arts. In 2003, this museum was established on the ground of Tainan Prefectural Hall, which was built in 1916. Aside from Taiwan’s literary artifacts, this building also preserves Taiwan’s architecture and history.
