Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Halifax, Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia

To the historic streets of Halifax and hear authentic tales of fortress city and the Maritime misfortunes it holds. What better way than to see the rich heritage and sites up close and personal with a guide. You'll learn the historical, cultural, political, and military significance of Halifax's top landmarks, as well as more modern locales and some hidden gems that is only known by the staff at Nova Scotia Van Tours.

We'll depart directly from the cruise pavilion and up Terminal Road towards Hollis St and point out the historic Westin Hotel and VIA train station.

Departing Continuing on South St we'll discuss the park there and tell about the former controversial Cornwallis statue. Next onto Barrington St., tell about the Waverley Inn and the story about Oscar Wilde, the Old Graveyard and the gravesite of Major General Robert Ross, of the War of 1812 fame who burned the Whitehouse in 1814.

We'll see Government House, the oldest intact executive mansion in North America. Building began in 1799. The first governor there was Governor Wentworth, the former governor of New Hampshire.

Depending on your groups time the Tour could either continue up Spring Garden Road and take in the cafes, restaurants and shops that are truly shaping the city's culinary reputation, or turn right onto Brunswick St., pointing out Royal Artillery Park.

The tour could turn left and then walk up the roadway to the top of Citadel Hill and to visit the fort and the noon time gun. As well, our tour could continue up Sackville St., to the Public Gardens, explaining the history of the area you could while away the hours in this leafy paradise. Continuing along the way pointing out the Lord Nelson Hotel, The Bengal Lancers, the history of the Camp Hill area from 1776, particularly interesting for Bostonians with the Evacuation of Boston refugees who camped there.)

There are plenty of exciting options to choose from, whether you're interested in famous historical figures, fascinated by our Maritime History, or just want to sample Halifax's brilliant food, attractions and architecture and like all Blue Diamond Tours it is always personalized , customized to you and your group were we can always take one of many "side-tracks", each one moving away from the main path to give a more in-depth look at one part of the city.

We'll continue onwards to Lower Water St, turning left and heading over to the Historic Properties. From here, walking along the waterfront in a southward direction. Once again Depending on time restraints, a trip across the harbour to Dartmouth and back on the ferry could be a great addition and provide some spectacular views of the city and the harbor fronts of both Halifax and Dartmouth.

Traveler pickup is offered
On arrival in Halifax please plan to come ashore as soon as allowed. You will exit your ship and go through a security check point which is inside the cruise ship pavilion. Proceed to the exit directly ahead that takes you out of the pavilion. Immediately, outside the Pavilion, you will see buses parked to your left and Taxis parked to your right. Cross the street between them and enter the parking area that is directly in front of you, there you will see your tour guide with a sign with your name on it. For clients not arriving by cruise ship, please alert us to your desired pick up location I.E. private residence or hotel accommodations and we will be there at the predetermined pick up time.
