Belfry of Mons is a symbol and an important landmark of the city, also it is the only baroque belfry style in the world. It was listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and it was built between1661-1672 by Louis Ledoux and Vincent Anthony.

It began being constructed in 1450 and continued until 1621. The monument constitutes a unique ensemble recognized as an exceptional piece of Wallonian heritage. It was the private and personal church of the canonesses of St Waltrude, who dreamed of crowning their collegiate church with a tower 190 meters high.
