Mikumi is a beautiful national park which was established in 1964. It is accessible from the commercial capital Dar-es-salaam where international flight connections are abundant.

Udzungwa national mountain park is an amazing experience. The habitats contained within the national park include tropical rainforest, mountain forest, miombo woodland, grassland and steppe. Here you can hike and also swim at the waterfalls.

The drive from Mikumi to Udzungwa is undertaken inside the national parks, so travelers can enjoy seeing animals on the side of the road, especially Giraffes, Zebras, and Gazelles but also lions and herds of elephants and buffalos.

This will make your drive out of Udzungwa and Mikumi a fantastic enroute game drive.

Stop At: Mikumi National Park, Mikumi National Park, Morogoro Region

Our professional guide will meet you at your hotel in Dar es Salaam or the ferry station and after introductions and brief program update, they will assist to pack into the jeep your bags. You will start the trip to Mikumi national park.
Mikumi national park is considered the 4th largest park in Tanzania. It has a lot of game animals including buffalos, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebra, hippos, crocodiles, gazelles, baboons, leopards and many more.
The drive takes about 6 hours, giving you an authentic view of Africa as you journey through local towns such as Kibaha, and Morogoro. On arrival in Mikumi, check in to the lodge, refresh and enjoy a hot lunch. Afterwards you will go to the park gates for afternoon game drives in Mikumi national park.

Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at Camp Bastian lodge outside the gates of the national park.

Stop At: Udzungwa Mountains National Park, Udzungwa Mountains National Park, Iringa Region

You will start the day heading to Udzungwa mountains for your hike. You will explore the Sanje circuit which has 3 water falls on its trail and is a very interesting walk. Many visitors choose to only do the Sanje trail on this day and forego Sonjo and Miombo trails. Sanje takes about 2 hours of hiking in trails endowed with butterflies, primates and birds along the lush vegetation. About 10 species of primates inhabit this park in which four of them cannot be seen elsewhere in the entire world. These include two species of Galagoes, Matundu and dwarf also known as Bush Babies and Komba in Kiswahili language. Others are Sanje Crested Mangabey and the Iringa Red Colobus Monkey.
Afterwards you will drive back to your lodge at Mikumi for lunch, refreshment and relaxation. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

After your breakfast you will go for an early morning game drive at the park. Return to the lodge at around 10:00 am and prepare for check out and return journey to Dar es Salaam.
