Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL

Stop At: Senegal, Senegal
Upon arrival at Blaise Diagne International Airport after completing your entry formalities, you will be met by one of our representative and transferred to your Hotel.

Day 2: Somone – Joal – Kaolack

Stop At: Somone, Somone, La Petite Cote, Thies Region
After breakfast, check out and drive to Somone located in the South. A stop at Joal, a former portuguese settlement in the 16 centuries and the native place of Leopold Senghor the first president of Senegal. By a wooden bridge, we will acces to Fadiouth island a small village settled on a pile of shells. Walking throught this tradional Serrere village to meet and interact with the local peoples. Visit the cathedral, the market place, the sacred baobab tree and cross another bridge to visit the mixe cemetary where muslims, animists and christians are buried side by side…
By traditional boats, we will row back on the continent. Have lunch and continue to Kaolack, with a stop to a nearby nomadic camp to visit the Fulani breeders, the third Senegalese ethnic.
Discover the big and sacred baobab tree which is the place of libations and rituals, then continue to Kaolack the Senegalese peanuts basin since the former kingdom of Saloum.

Day 3: Kaolack – Tomboronkoto – Kedougou

Stop At: Kaolack, Kaolack, Kaolack Region
Early departure for the South East of Senegal in the Mandinka’s kingdom, a region of reliefs, vegetations and mountains. Located by the water reservoir of all west Africa’s rivers, this area is a mixture of cultures of beliefs and traditions. The South East is also a rich area with its various mineral resources: Gold, marble, iron…
On the way we will stop in Tomboronkoto village which attracts a lot of African Nationals, for the gold discovery. Visit the gold diggers in their artisanal gold mining then continuation for our hotel in Kedougou

Day 4: Kedougou – Dindefelo - Kedougou

Stop At: Kedougou, Kedougou, Kedougou Region
After breakfast, we will start our tour in this lost world where peoples are staying away from civilization in some awesome countryside
The Bediks and the Bassaries are living in perched villages on the mountains front of magnificent and endless landscape. Animist peoples where everything turn around the ritual ceremonies and traditional initiations. Exiled in those lands far away just to keep their ancestral beliefs and refused to submit to any other foreigner religions.
Attractive, intriguing villages and peoples settled on the foothills of the Fouta Djallon, here the tradition is the way.
Continue to Dindefelo waterfalls, with its 80 meters high offers a natural swimming pool unique in Senegal. Refreshing shower and meet the locals, why not a picnic in this jungle atmosphere before going back to the hotel .

Day 5: Kedougou - Mako - Saloum Islands

Stop At: Kedougou, Kedougou, Kedougou Region
Check out from this rich area and head to Mako village settled aside Gambia river. Let us cross the bridge to observe by chance the hippos and route for the Sine Saloum delta.
On the way stops in some villages to meet the local peoples and interact with them.
Continue to Ndangane for the delta which is a reserve of biosphere made by mangroves trees forest and covering a surface of 2 hundred thousand hectares. ...
The Saloum river is an ecological complex sheltering different families of birds, fish, shellfish and seafood. Sun set on the river and the mangroves flora for our postal card

Day 6: Saloum Islands – Marlodj – Saly

Stop At: Saly, Saly, La Petite Cote, Thies Region
Have breakfast in front of the mangroves forest then sail deeper in the heart of the delta.
By a motorized boat we will reach the mythic village of Marlodj, the settlement of the Niominkas tribes which are the Serrere fishermen, a Senegalese ethnic group.
Interact with them and walk through this island to discover their daily life, the sacred wood for libations, we will stop under the shade of the palaver tree, the main place for discussing and often used by the council of the wise men as a court, discover the tam-tam telephone for communication…
Island of fishermen and farmers Marlodj still keep the traditional values based on the matriarchal lineage. Sail back on the mainland, lunch and road to the sea side resort

Day 7: Saly – Bandia reserve – Pink lake

Stop At: Saly, Saly, La Petite Cote, Thies Region
After breakfast, departure this morning for three hours safari trougth a forest of baobab and accacias trees, we will meet mostly herbivorious wild animals as buffalos, antelopes, impalas gazelles, elans, kudu, giraffes, monkeys, zebras…
Birds species as small hornbills, eagles, vultures, kinfishers, grey herons…
Followed by a visit under a particular baobab tree for an archeological course, the tomb of the griots. Griots were casted peoples, story tellers, drummers, singers and following a mytical belief, were often buried inside the hollow of the baobab trees.
Before the end of our safari, we will arrive at the artificial river to pet or swim with the crocodiles then route for the pink lake.
Famous by being the ex. final stage of Paris-Dakar race the lake is unique by the different colors of its waters. Depending on the seasons, it is purple to mauve at dawn then pink once the sun is at the zenith.

Day 8: Pink lake – Dakar Goree

Stop At: Dakar, Dakar, Dakar Region
After Breakfast and check drive to Goree island, Dakar. After an hour driving we will reach the port to take our ferry on Goree Island for 20 minutes sailling.
Land of martyr and suffering Goree was and important slaves transit center before their deportation in the Americas. Titled world heritage by unesco, our visite will start at the famous slaves house, made by different cells, observing the “Door of no return”throught which millions and millions enslaved Africans crossed for the way of slavery.
Lunch in Goree and return to Dakar for a City tour through its attractive sites including the museum of black civilizations, the African renaissance monument being the highest world statue in bronze Following main avenues and boulevards, independence square then the presidential house, we will drive around interesting sites to feel Dakar this capital city of the French west Africa’s till 1902 and capital of Senegal from 1960.
