The Caves ....Drogarati Cave and Melissani Lake
Cross the breathtaking slopes of Mt. Ainos, one of the highest peaks in Greece, en route to the shores of Lake Melissani.
Here you will descend a manmade tunnel to the water's edge where you will board a small rowboat for a scenic cruise around the majestic cavern, which once yielded ancient relics from a former Minoan culture, including figures of the god Pan and several nymphs. Continue your journey to the majestic Drogarati Cave, located nearly 200 feet below the surface. Discovered 300 years ago when an earthquake exposed the entrance, this spectacular two million-year-old cavern features stunning rock formations (enhanced by hidden lighting) and a magnificent hall called "Sala of Apotheosis"

Time to walk around the largest cave out of 300 in the Sami area. please note there about 150 steps down into the cave. Hand rails have been installed. Some of the cave flooring is a little uneven and at time can be slippy.

After a short transfer time you will have the chance to take a boat ride on the lake. This is a geographical phenomenon. There are about 7 rowing boats that take about 10 people in each. The guides explain how the lake was formed. Please note that this is one of the most popular attractions on the island and queues can form on busy days.
