Redeem your train e-ticket (we will email it to you after your booking) for the morning train departure from the Central Railway Station of Athens (Stathmos Larissis) to Kalabaka and travel on your own. Embark on a scenic train ride through the Greek countryside and admire the beautiful landscapes.

After the scenic train ride through the beautiful Greek countryside, you will arrive at noon to Kalambaka’s train station, where our tour guide will be waiting for you holding a signboard with your name. You will then board in a comfortable VIP minibus in order to begin an unforgettable journey to this true wonder called Meteora.
You will also discover the “other side” of Meteora, like the truth about why the hermits settled in these imposing caves a thousand years ago and how the monks achieved the “impossible”.

At the bottom of the Holy Meteora Rocks and not far from Kalambaka is located Kastraki (translated as small castle in Greek). This picturesque village took its name from a small Byzantine castle, whose ruins are still saved today.

The Monastery of Saint Nicholas of Anapafsas is literally suspended in air on a small rock and is the first monastery that we meet on our way from Kastraki village to the stone forest of Holy Meteora.

The Roussanou Monastery, also known as Arsani, stands on top of an impressive vertical and steep cliff of Meteora, between the Monasteries of Saint Nicholas Anapafsas and Varlaam.

The Monastery of Great Meteoron or Transfiguration of Christ, expresses the greatness and history of the Holy Meteora, as it is the oldest and most important monastery.

Stop At: Varlaam Monastery, Kalambaka Greece
The Varlaam Monastery or Monastery of All the Saints is located on an imposing rock exactly opposite of the Great Meteoron and it is the second largest monastery of Meteora.

Stop At: Holy Trinity Monastery (Agia Triada), Kalambaka Greece
The Monastery of the Holy Trinity is the third oldest monastery in Meteora and is the most difficult to reach, since visitors should cross a downhill path and then ascend 145 steps carved into the rock. It is said that the first hermits used a rope ladder and a net to build it and they spent 70 years to carry the all the materials needed.

Stop At: Agios Stefanos, Kalambaka Greece
The Monastery of Saint Stephen’s (Agios Stefanos) is located just above the city of Kalambaka and is the most accessible monastery in Meteora, as there are no steps to reach the entrance and the access is easy through a small stone bridge.

In the afternoon, return to the town of Kalabaka, where you will eat at a local restaurant near the train station. Enjoy your lunch before the train's departure in the evening back to Athens. The train arrives in Athens at approximately 21:57.

"*Important Notice, effective from October 2023 and until further update: In light of recent disruptions to train services caused by flooding, we wish to inform you that this Meteora day trip will now be operated using our private, air-conditioned bus. The bus will be conveniently located on the street just opposite the Central Railway Station of Athens (also known as Stathmos Larisis) with a scheduled departure time of 07:45 am. You'll easily identify it by the "Meteora Trip" and number "6" sign displayed in the front window. There's no need for a printed ticket, simply provide your name or show your booking voucher on your phone when boarding the bus. The total duration of the journey is approximately 4.5 hours and the rest of the itinerary remains the same. Following the visit to Meteora, you will return to Athens, with an estimated arrival time of around 11:00 pm."
