The prices on Viator/TripAdvisor currently is for two people. We offer MUCH cheaper per person prices for 4 person or larger groups, beating even shared experience operators, check it out!

Tour Overview: This tour is so much more than a drive to the Cape Fur seal colony of Walvis Bay!

You will see most of the common sea birds on this tour, as well as the Black Backed Jackal, native to this area. The tour is very photographer friendly, stopping where you want for as long as you want in order to take the best photographs.

There is quite a bit of subject matter for the photographers, old jetties jutting out into the ocean, a small shipwreck and of course the lighthouse on it's plain of sand.

As this is an outside activity, the weather influences the experience quite a bit, and no two tours are alike.

Itinerary: We start our tour in the Walvis Bay Lagune, where you can see mostly Greater Flamingo feeding in this RAMSAR site. With a bit of luck you can also see Great White pelican.

We then proceed South towards the Salt Processing works of Walvis Bay. This is our famous pink lakes, and we get a bit of elevation for good photographs by parking on top of a dune close by the main processing site.

Winding our way through the wetlands you might see a mixture of Greater and Lesser Flamingo, as well as Pied Avocet, Cape Cormorants, Crowned Lapwing (Plover), White Fronted Plover, Hartlaubs Gull, Caspian Tern, Swift Tern, Damara Tern, Blacksmith Lapwing, African Black Oyster Catcher, Cape and Red billed teal, Little Egret and Grey Egrets.

While staying in Swakopmund we wanted to visit the unique Peninsula Pelican Point which we had heard of so much. The best way to do it is hiring a local driver and we can definitely recommend Evert with whom we did this fantasic trip. Although we booked on very short notice, the tour was perfectly organised. After our booking, he immediately got in touch with us and asked for preferences and a place to meet. When we arrived at the Meeting Point, he was already waiting for us with his 4x4 car. First we went to the salt mine south of Walivs Bay. The Colours of the water in the large basins are amazing. He told us a lot of background Information about the salt mining, which we really enjoyed. Afterwards we headed towards Pelican Point. On the way we saw a jackal and of cause pelicans. We got as much time as we needed to take pictures. Close to the light house we came close to one of the seal Colonies there. It is amazing how large they are. Evert offered us Cold Drinks and a Snack out there, which was lovely. Since he is a local and he knows the area very well, he could tell us so much interesting Information we would never had received when we went there alone. The latter I would not recommend to anyone, since there is no mobile connection out there and nobody who could help. With Evert, we felt perfectly save as he had Radio Connection and was very experienced with his car. We enjoyed and the price-performance-Ratio was excellent - definitely recommended!

        Calificación General: 10/10
