Self-Guided Audio Tour: Pirate Tales in Cartagena
Starting from the bastion of Santo Domingo, this soundwalk will take you on an adventure to learn about all the pirate tales that Cartagena has to offer. The narrator of this special audio walk with 3D sound effects is a pirate himself. As you follow Black Bart's stories, he will tell you about his own adventures and the legends and heroes he knows. You will learn how piracy began in the Caribbean, starting from the controversies in Europe related to the Mare Clausum. As you explore the city, your guide will show you the different places where the raids took place. Be prepared to laugh and enjoy your walk as your narrator tells you the stories of Drake, Vernon, Hawkins, Robert Baal, Martin Cote and the crazy adventures of Baron de Pointis. You'll also learn about the pirate code and the reasons why Cartagena was such a coveted city for raids during the golden years of piracy.
