DISTRIBUTION IN CHILE:
summer visitor from Arica to Tierra del Fuego. A few remain during winter.
HABITAT:
coastal zone, estuaries. Very rarely in inland areas.
DESCRIPTION:
Length: 42 cms.
Crown brown with whitish line at the center. Whitish eyebrows. Head and neck mottled with brown and whitish fine. Back and coverts mottled with brown and whitish. Chest dark brown mottling. Abdomen brown. Brown wings with a few large bright spots. Tail with transverse lines and dark brown. Legs gray. Long curved beak down. Brown eyes.
