DESCRIPTION:
Length: 17 to 18 cms.
Chestnut crown and nape streaked with black. White chest lined with soft reddish, rest of underparts pale brown, somewhat streaked with white. Wings brown. Long tail feathers dark brown central and side with white feathers on the outer edges.
This species is found in the temperate highlands and the Andes Mountains from Venezuela as far north as Ecuador, Peru and northwestern Bolivia. In "The Birds of Chile" by Johnson (1967) give the closest to Chile subspecies (L. a. peruviana), a southern area between Arequipa and Puno and Bolivia to northwestern border area in Peru .
