Very abundant in the past, the survival of the Partridge was threatened by indiscriminate hunting due to its tasty meat. Today, because the protection it has, the number is again increasing, but still far from reaching the population that had formerly.

Like a hen well-sized, brown plumage very variegated with black and white on the back and back, gives a great mimicry with its environment. This, coupled with the ability to crouch and stay still, make it very difficult to observe. They prefer to run away, even if they feel very harassed, energetic and raise a flight with a loud scream very characteristic. However, the flights are usually straight and not too long. Even your resistance is low, so that after 3 or 4 starter does not have the strength to take off again.
Especielmente prefer dry land wheat fields, walking alone, in pairs or small groups, never in flocks, in search of food consisting of seeds and insects.

Nests on the ground in a nest made of grass and lined with some feathers, and under some bushes or small shrub at ground level. Place 5 to 9 eggs, and occasionally up to 12, oval, bright and uniform chocolate color. Dimensions of 49 mm. x 35 mm. app.
